“The meaning of America is not to be found in a life without toil. Freedom is not only bought with a great price; it is maintained by unremitting effort.” President Calvin Coolidge
Way back in 1776, a bunch of rebels and traitors to the British Crown signed an illegal document, proclaiming, rather brashly, their independence from a vastly superior and established country. Having been under British rule for roughly 170 years, and having supported the British in their ongoing wars against the French, America was now fighting her sovereign for freedom.
Many good men laid down their lives to purchase that freedom, and many more devoted their lives to the birthing of the new nation, the United States of America.
In the 1850′s, America was again fighting, but this time it was herself. Warring between themselves, the States wished to determine the rights of sovereignty that each state had, independent of the Federal government, while still remaining within a union. Originally, the United States was a voluntary union of sovereign states, each governing themselves under an unifying government. The Civil War was ended with a perserved union, but with less of herself.
In the 1910′s and 1940′s, America fought to keep the world free from radical dictators, a fight she has kept up, and enlarged to include perpetrators and instigators of terror. But still she is wracked by internal strife and confusion.
Who is America, and what are her crowning goals and values? What makes America unique and dynamic? What has America lost, that makes her a nation of squabbling politicians, who have no real concept of statesmanship? What can be done to halt America’s slide into chaos?
Announcing the one year anniversary of Theocrats.com, a Christian libertarian web site run by my brother Joe and his friend Chris. This blog provides a running commentary on American life and politics and discusses current events in the light of intelligence and the Bible.
Though I, myself, have not been there from the beginning (as a writer), I have been following the blog with rising interest. Lately I have authored several posts and am still looking for my niche on the site, but will continue to expound whenever I have the knowledge and wisdom to do so confidently and correctly.
I hope to see America turn back to the great nation she was, and is trying desperately to be, though she is greatly misguided. Only with God’s help, and through her thinking and intelligent citizens can America return to her true glory.
So to that end, I will support my brother and Co. in all their political endeavors and continue to contribute to this blog.
It will be worth your time.
