You may not be able to read it, but there is a question written by Yoda’s head. It reads as follows: “Can one ray of light save the universe?” Below his head, the answer is written: “It depends on who is holding the light!”
Ponder this: The situation in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the last story in the Star Wars saga is this: Luke Skywalker is the by the bedside of aged Master Yoda, the most powerful Jedi to ever live. The whole universe is plotting the last war, and Skywalker is the newly trained Jedi Knight, prepared to take down the evil Emporer and the great Sith Lord Darth Vader, who in happier times was Luke’s father Anakin. Yoda, unable to hang on any longer, dies and becomes one with the Force. Luke then is the last of the Jedi, a lone candle in a universe smothered in darkness. Luke is the lone light, and the question asked is this: “Can one ray of light save the universe?”
Turns out the only Jedi alive was able to conqueror evil and shed rays of light into the darkness, but I ask the same question today. This question goes out into an increasingly dark world. An earth of wickedness, sin, and depravity. One by one the lights are winking out and the shadow of death grows. It seems that the dark tide of pluralism, post-modernism and secularism is choking out the light of Christianity, and true Jehovah worship. You, Christian, may find yourself the last ray of light, surrounded by darkness. So I ask you: “Can one ray of light save the universe?”
My answer and challenge is this: “It depends on who is holding the light!”
Jesus Christ, the Light from heaven called us the Light of the World. If you are sold out and dedicated to Him, your light will be able to shine unabated and He will help you repel the shadows of darkness.
“For you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness.” (I Thessalonians 5:5)
“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12)
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14)
So there you have it. As a friend of mine says, “Go shake salt and shine light.” Your light can be enough to shatter the darkness completely. Sell out to God and go hardcore after the things of God. Believe me, you won’t regret it.
I haven’t yet.
This is the last week of camp! Yeah!
This week I have the youngest kids that come, 6-7 year olds. Wow, I was slightly misguided when I requested to have them. I don’t know what I was thinking, but if I could go back in time and slap myself around, I would. Actually, they are pretty good, but I have one that is a headache and a half, and one that gets really distracted. Oh well.
After this week we have GRADUATION on Sunday, and then about three weeks or so of break, during which I will be headed to Virginia for much needed R&R. Sweetness!!
Maybe I can catch Pirates2 while I can “legally”.
Oh yeah, the other nice thing about having the youngest kids (we call em “Deputies”) is the BIG SNOOZE naptime (oh yeah! I could get used to a one hour nap every efternoon!) and early bedtime! (give it up for 2030!!).
So I am having fun with this last hurrah week of camp.
I went to Montreal last friday with Rachel B., Nate and one of Rach’s friends. Was a fun day in Canada (eh?) and we even made it back here in time for the rodeo, despite being held up at the border. Man, the hassel trying to get into my homeland. At least it is safe! Give it up for the land of the free and the home of the brave!
So, there’s an update for now. Peace ya’ll.
see ya
when chilling on the beach relaxing.
What up ya’ll, end of the summer (almost) beach bash for the couselors, so I slipped away to check email. Doing good, having fun.
Peace and grace to you.
So camp has been good.
Only two weeks left and then graduation. Good news first, then bad news, then some other random news:
the Good News is that I have had a great cabin this week, some really good guys, for the most part. Over half have gotten saved this week and have started new lives for Christ. I have two really good kids that are an amazing blessing and that I can’t get to stop calling me “Sir”. Oh well there could be worse things which leads me to…
the Bad News is that my computer is refusing to work again. No, please. No Mac/PC jokes. Your computer wouldn’t work either after being dropped two feet onto a concrete floor. It probably wouldn’t have worked as long as mine has. But I am looking at losing valuable info again. Please pray. I need a new computer and haven’t the money.
Now for the not entirely random news, my decision concerning next year has been made. I am doing a second year here at the Bible Institute. Stop laughing, Dave Kelly. Its not funny. But seriously, I feel that it is where God wants me, and I’m all for want He wants. Its really the only way to fly.
Have fun people and please pray. I need it.
