“Of course I’ll have to replace it!” – Han Solo October 22nd, 2007

Greetings blog readers. This blog doesn’t look any different, but the site that it lives with, www.philipjoel.com, has been updated, and will continue to be. Look for new pages such as: Simply Myself, a biography page, The Teaching Missionary, my service page, and new looks all around. Enjoy!

Also, you might have to clear your browser’s cache and update bookmarks to see the new stuff. So, if it looks the same, make sure you do the aforementioned. Tally ho!

The Turning of the Moon October 19th, 2007

Phil Martin

Hello all. I am unpleasantly surprised to find that it has been almost an entire month since I have last posted. This unforgivable act will be rectified immediately with a blog post.

My last post waxed eloquent on my recently reacquired iBook, but alas, its maladies are many and malicious. I won’t detail them here, but I am hopeful that I can get it working reliably, with a great deal of luck. Fingers are crossed.

Speaking of crossed fingers, I have been cheering for the Cleveland Indians in their post season run, and they have acquitted themselves very well. They beat the Yankees in four games in the Division Series, and in the process fast tracked Joe Torre’s trip out of the Bronx. Now they are engaged in the League Championship Series with the Boston Red Sox, attempting to be the first team in playoff history to beat both the Yankees and the Sox, however, they are struggling. After losing game one by a large margin, they have managed to win the next three games. Game 5, which, had the Indians won would have sent them to the World Series to face the Colorado Juggernauts, ie Rockies, however, they played sloppily against the dominating Josh Beckett and lost. Alas, now they head back to Boston for Game 6, and another chance at the Pennant.

In other news, college life at Messiah is going splendidly, my classes continue to be fun, captivating, and instructional. Social life is going very well; I am starting to make new friends due to class projects and interactions in the classroom.

Looking forward to a possible visit from my cousin Kevin, sometime soon, as well as seeing Transformers the Movie this weekend!!! I remember the toys from a far past childhood (ha!) and the cartoons spawned thusly. Personally, I think it is hilarious to read that a movie is “Based on the Hasbro toy.” Forget great novels such as the Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings, or even real life, we now base movies on toys. Hmm. Maybe we can get a feature length LEGO movie, or perhaps one about alphabet blocks fighting a war on our planet. Despite my bashing, I am anticipating a rocking fun movie. Can’t wait.

So anyway, for a month past, life has been good, college fun, and the days warm.

Peace.
